Check out what GIFTS Rwanda is up to...
The team has been busy this month and we are so excited to update you!

Our first ever campaign, GivingTuesday, wrapped up last month and because you $11,937 was raised. With the $10,000 matching donation the final total is $21,937.... almost $2,000 past our goal! THANK YOU!! With your donations the following projects have begun:
  • Getting our team in Rwanda a motorcycle, insurance, and two helmets so they can easily get to and around Rugarika on a regular basis. --$2,760

  • CHICKEN PROJECT! After years of being on hold due to finances the chicken project is finally able to launch for the community of Rugarika. This includes 600 square meters of land, 100 baby chickens, a building, special lights, cages, and food. This is a co-op starting with five families, which will expand in the future to others. --$8.166

  • New Mother Sewing Group has BEGUN! --$4,300 GIFTS Rwanda is currently sponsoring 15 young, pregnant, unwed mothers in a tailoring co-op to receive a six month education and a means to make a living. They are meeting four times a week and are in their second month of studies.  They are currently learning to make school uniforms for the primary students sponsored by your donations. Some unexpected costs have arisen for chairs ($300), uniforms ($350), machine maintenance ($400), and extra cloth ($200). We welcome donations to help provide these to the young mothers. Click here and select Campaign 'Sponsor New Mother Tailoring Education' to donate. Check out these beautiful pictures of them in the classroom:
  • GIFTS Rwanda is also working on getting more people health insurance ($3 per person), more children enrolled in primary ($60 per student) and secondary schools ($240 per student), more duplexes built ($9,300 each), and increasing the amount of students' families receiving animals ($126 per family) to help them make a living, have meat, and to have nutrition for their families. More information is coming on these projects so stay tuned!

Exciting News...
You can now donate DIRECTLY into any project that you choose right off the donate page! In 2021...
You have helped make such a difference in this world! See how your support has impacted the people of Rugarika:
Students sponsored to attend primary and secondary school (including uniforms, supplies, and tuition): 32
New, single mothers sponsored for tailoring co-op to receive education, sewing machine, and supplies to have a means to make a living: 15
Duplex houses built creating stability and securing for two families (including beds, table, and chairs): 5
It is exciting to see the increase in outreach for so many of GIFTS Rwanda's current sustainable projects. Other projects, currently on hold, that are also sustainable, should be taking off in the near future, as more funds come in. Our team on the field in Rugarika, Brigitte Mukunyandwi & Habinshuti Paterne, are great at letting us know with high enthusiasm, the many new projects they see a need for as they visit the people in Rugarika. These are mentioned in some of the above paragraphs. More funding will be needed, of course, and any additional funds are welcome in order to continue this work.

It's people like you that are helping the people in Rugarika make real sustainable change, and it couldn't be done without you. THANK YOU for being a part of our team!
