A Story of Courage: Welcoming Two Students Back to School

Earlier this month, we welcomed two beautiful secondary students back into school after they were forced to drop out.

Their family had been torn apart by violence. Their father abandoned the home and disappeared when local authorities moved to arrest him for repeatedly beating their mother.

These kids were left without safety… and without hope of continuing their education.

But because of generous supporters like you, GIFTS Rwanda stepped in immediately:

• We paid their school tuition
  
• Provided notebooks, school uniforms, and shoes
  
• And brought their mother into our care network for continued support

Today, these kids are back in class — smiling, safe, and determined to build a brighter future.

Here are just a few ways your matched donation will create lasting impact:

• $19,500 — Safe Housing for Eric and Jacques
  Your support will help build a duplex home for Eric and Jacques, two teenage students who currently have no safe place to live. This will be a GIFTS Rwanda home, providing them with safety, stability, and a supportive environment as they continue their education. Once Erik and Jacques are stable and able to secure their own housing, the home will be used to shelter other children or mothers in need, ensuring it continues to serve and uplift the community for years to come.

 

• $3,300 — Food Support and Farming Empowerment
  Provide essential food supplies and help five families cultivate their own land, offering immediate hunger relief and long-term food security.

 

• $30,000 — Scholarships for 154 Students  
  Cover tuition for 44 primary, 101 secondary, and 9 university students — many of whom have no family support.

 

• $2,300 — Tailoring Training for 25 Young Women
  Equip young women with skills, certificates, and sewing machines to support their families and community with pride.
